Today I have something totally different I want to show you. A friend of mine asked me if I'd like to be his opponent in a dark age painting battle. He wanted to take part in a SAGA event end of October and thought I'd might be interested in painting a historical miniature. I thought about it and agreed, though it sounded like a funny idea to paint something completely different from my normal ranges.
He gave me this fellow as a present and back at home I even found a socket I had bought a long time ago. I have to admit I wasn't sure if I really wanted to paint a miniature I won't be playing with at all. But it sure was a lot of fun to have enough space to focus on a natural looking terrain. I'll try it again someday, but I still have so many playable projects in mind, that it will take some time until then.
On this Viking archer I tried to use desaturated colours I saw fit to the age he is coming from. I don't have any historical experience, so there might be wrong choices of colours, but well I tried my best to avoid anything that could look to shiny. I hope the different brown and red tones still provide enough differences overall, so that he doesn't look boring. I think in the end I could have done better with a little more patience, but I had a lot of fun and that's all I aim for! :)
Trifft absolut meinen Geschmack. Stimmige Farbgebung, Figur harmoniert gut mit dem Sockel...
